As the peak body for neuroscience nurses, ANNA facilitates and fosters the advancement of neuroscience nursing through education, access to resources, and promotion and support of the neuroscience specialty.

A three tiered approach to education

Tier 1: The provision of educational opportunities and materials for nurses in acute care areas, community settings and aged care facilities who care for people with neurological conditions of all types such as stroke,  movement disorders, neurosurgery and neurology conditionsThese materials and opportunities equip nurses to understand the needs of their patients in their local settings. This includes conferences, online webinars, online learning packages, guidelines, policies, patient information, journal articles and networking opportunities. 

Tier 2: The development of educational and career pathways for neuroscience nurses into neuroscience specialist nursing, such as Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Nurse specialists (PDMDNS) and neuroscience nurse educators and advance practice clinicians 

Tier 3: The development of educational pathways for neuroscience nurses such as neuroscience nurse practitioners and PDMDNS to prepare them for their professional roles as advanced practice nurses.
