John Sheard Travel Award (Updated 2008)

 

Guidelines for NSW Branch John Sheard Travel Award

 

Professional Development Activities that are eligible for scholarship funding

  • Applications will be considered for travel, registration and/or accommodation expenses associated with attending a professional development activity such as an educational/professional conference, forum, workshop, meeting or short course (excluding formal/higher education course fees); where the content is relevant to neuroscience nursing.

Criteria for Granting a Scholarship

  • The person applying must be a member of ANNA - NSW for the previous 12 months
  • Application must be received by the due date; either by the mailing office noting receipt of mail on or before the closing date and electronic submissions will be accepted on the closing date when received prior to 1700hours
  • All requirements of the application form must be met
  • Only one application form can be submitted per person
  • Only one application will be accepted per member per financial year
  • Scholarships are awarded to individuals only and are not transferable to any other individual
  • The successful applicant(s) will write a 250 word (minimum) report on the educational and professional highlights of the conference/meeting/activity attended - for publication in the next edition of the NSW newsletter (Hemisphere News).

Closing Date

  • Applications must be received by the last working day in August

Exclusions

  • Retrospective funding will not be granted - that is, applications must be received by the closing date for a professional development activity that occurs in the future. Funding may be allocated as a reimbursement to the successful applicant, as we cannot guarantee to process applications in time to meet early registration deadlines. It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that they register and pay according to event deadlines
  • Members who are currently on the ANNA -NSW Executive Committee are eligible to apply to this fund for professional development activities relating to travel, accommodation, registration fees or other conference/seminar proceedings but may not be involved in judging applications

Monetary Value of the Scholarship

  • For the 2008-2009 financial year, ANNA-NSW Branch has set aside $1000 for scholarships
  • Two (2) $500 scholarships will be awarded in 2008-2009
  • The total available funds for scholarships is reviewed each year
